IS350/IS250 Radar Detector Install
The best place to mount a radar detector is just left of the rearview mirror.

Overall, I think mounting a detector high provides better range and is less noticeable from the outside of the car.
Step 1 - remove the lights/sunglasses holder unit.
1.a. Remove the two inside screws.

1.b. Pull down at the back of the unit. Two snaps hold the back of the unit. The next photo is of a back clip.

1.c. Slide the unit toward the back of the car. The front is held in by long tabs that slide into the front of the headliner.

2. Splice into the power.
Most hardwire kits come with line and a tap to splice into a hot wire. Tap power by pulling out the vanity lights.
Use a simple 12 volt line tester (available at any auto parts store for a few dollars) to test for a live line.

Test for a live wire while the car is off.
I spliced into power from the sunroof. The power is always on, but it works fine. I generally turn off the detector when I park, but I've left it on all weekend a few times. The power drain is minimal.

Step 3. Run the cable through the front of the headliner. You're basically done.
